Briefly: SXSW, Diana Ross, Bonnaroo, America
Townshend is scheduled to speak to SXSW attendees on March 14, and is expected to perform a show with singer/songwriter Rachel Fuller and special guests the next day at an as-yet-unannounced venue.
Diana Ross is scheduled to issue a new studio album dubbed "I Love You"--which has already been released overseas--in the US on Jan. 16.
The 15-track collection, Ross' first in more than seven years, features her renditions of well-known songs including "I Want You" (popularized by Marvin Gaye), Harry Nillson's "Remember" and The Beatles' "I Will." The lone new song on the album is "I Love You" (That's All That Really Matters"), which was written by Ross backing vocalist Fred White.
The 2007 edition of the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival, the event's sixth go-around, is scheduled to take place June 14-17 at its usual home, a 700 acre site in Manchester, TN.
Though next year's line-up hasn't been announced, a small number of pre-sale tickets went on sale today (12/13); details are posted at the event's website.
Mellow rockers America (the duo of Gerry Beckley and Dewey Burnell) are set to issue a new album titled "Here & Now" on Jan. 16. The set, produced by Adam Schlesinger of Fountains of Wayne, features guests Ryan Adams, James Iha (Smashing Pumpkins) and Jim James (My Morning Jacket).
The same day "Here & Now" hits stores, America and special guest Adams are scheduled to perform on the "Late Show with David Letterman."
