Goo Goo Dolls extend trek into new year
The trio, which has been touring virtually non-stop since launching its new disc along with a three-month summer trek with Counting Crows, is currently finishing a round of December shows and is scheduled to next play Tuesday (12/5) in Erie, PA.
The group will take January off to recuperate before heading back out on the road, kicking off its first 2007 outing Feb. 7 in Norfolk, VA. Pre-sales for most of the new dates are available through The Inner Machine, the group's online fan club. More information on ticket availability is available at the band's website.
Earlier this year, the Goo Goo Dolls delivered "Let Love In," the group's first new album since 2002's "Gutterflower." Founding members Johnny Reznik (vocals/guitar) and Robby Takac (bass) left their adopted hometown of Los Angeles and returned to their native stomping ground of Buffalo, NY, to record the new set.
"I wasn't really feeling any kind of real inspiration in Los Angeles," Rzeznik said in a press release. "I was sitting here just beating my head against the wall trying to write songs and I wasn't feeling inspired at all."
Rzeznik, Takac and drummer Mike Malinin ultimately set up shop in a 100-year-old Masonic Ballroom.
"It was a really beautiful old place," Rzeznik continued. "It felt really good to be back where I grew up. It's sort of that whole getting-back-to-your-roots thing only that sounds so cliche, but there's definitely a different kind of dramatic tension there than in L.A."
"Let Love In" features the cut "Stay With You," which is streaming at the Goo Goo Dolls' MySpace page. The site also features the song's companion music video.
