Gwen Stefani to step out with 'The Sweet Escape'
It doesn't look like motherhood has slowed down Gwen Stefani a bit. The singer's sophomore solo album, "The Sweet Escape," will hit the street tomorrow (12/5) and she'll support it with a 40-date North American tour that kicks off April 21 in Phoenix.
Dates will take Stefani and her Harajuku Girls across the US and Canada through June (dates are listed below). International shows in Central America, South America, Australia, Asia and Europe will be announced in 2007, according to Stefani's website. Specifics about ticket on-sales will be posted there.
"The Sweet Escape" is the Grammy winner's followup to her quadruple-platinum-selling 2004 solo album, "Love. Angel. Music. Baby," which spawned hits including "Hollaback Girl," "What You Waiting For" and "Cool." The first single off the new album, "Wind It Up," is streaming at Stefani's MySpace page
Along with the new music comes Stefani's first solo DVD, "Harajuku Lovers Live," which captures her concert performance during her most recent tour. Bonus material includes a behind-the-scenes documentary on how the show came together and an in-depth look at the band and the dancers. The DVD is available in two versions--explicit and edited.
Besides being a new mother and pop/rock/dance hero, Stefani has become somewhat of a fashion icon with her clothing line, L.A.M.B., which debuted in 2003. The artist recently announced that she'll put out a fragrance next year under the L.A.M.B. label.
She also said she plans to reunite with her No Doubt bandmates someday. While the band's return to the studio and the road has been rumored for some time, nothing has been confirmed as of yet.
Before the year is up, Stefani will make the rounds on the television circuit, appearing on the Billboard Music Awards tonight (12/4) and hitting "Saturday Night Live," MTV's "TRL," "Good Morning America," "The Late Show with David Letterman," and MTV's New Year's Eve celebration in the coming weeks.
