Faith Hill, Garth Brooks, Dixie Chicks Collect Multiple ACM Awards

Faith Hill rallied for a strong showing at the 34th annual Academy of Country Music Awards ceremony in Los Angeles on Wednesday (5/5) evening. The songstress, whose pop-crossover hit This Kiss has established her as a retail sales force, won four awards, including Top Female Vocalist.

Hill, who was also honored for Top Vocal Event of the Year with husband Tim McGraw for the song Just To Hear You Say That You Love Me and for both Country Video of the Year and Single of the Year, was trailed closely by the Dixie Chicks , who took home awards in three categories, including Album of the Year, Top New Vocal Duet or Group and Top Vocal Duet or Group of the Year.

The Chicks' Album win prevented Hill from making a clean sweep of five wins.

Garth Brooks won the evening's most heralded awards, Entertainer of the Year and a special Artist of the Decade honor. Shania Twain was similarly honored for her album sales acheivements with a new Double Diamond award, representing RIAA tallies of two albums selling more than 10 million copies.

Other winners named in the televised ceremony were Tim McGraw for Top Male Vocalist (and a shared award with Faith Hill for Vocal Event of the Year), Steve Wariner for Song of the Year (Holes in the Floor of Heaven) and Mark Will and Jo Dee Messina, for Top New Male and Female Vocalist, respectively.

Glen Campbell was honored with the Cliffie Stone Pioneer Award for his career accomplishments.
