Collective Soul gigs while working on new album

When Georgia-based alt-rockers Collective Soul made their comeback in late 2004, the band members said they would tour their "asses off," and they're still sticking to it, announcing new dates through mid-January.

Singer Ed Roland also said on the band's MySpace page that Collective Soul has started recording a new album, and is shooting for an April or May release.

The band's last record, "Youth," was released in Nov. 2004 on its own label, El Music Group.

Collective Soul was one of the biggest bands of the '90s, with 19 singles from five albums reaching the Billboard charts during a seven-year span, according to the group's website.

The band took a four-year hiatus following the end of its contract with Atlantic Records and problems in the group members' personal lives.

In February, Collective Soul released "Home," a live concert DVD that features the group performing with the Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra.
