Snow Patrol sets next North American trek
Irish rockers Snow Patrol have mapped out a return to North America in February as the group continues to support its most recent studio effort, "Eyes Open," which hit stores in May.
The new round of US and Canadian appearances marks the band's second pass through the continent in less than six months. The group's recent fall tour included rescheduled dates from earlier this year that were cancelled due to frontman Gary Lightbody's "severe throat condition," according to a press release issued at the time.
The group will kick off its 2007 run Feb. 26 in Portland, OR. The 28-city outing will hit arenas and large theaters across the continent and run through an April 10 show in Edmonton, Alberta.
Fellow alt-rockers OK Go and Silversun will be on hand to provide opening support.
"Eyes Open," released May 9, is the Snow Patrol's fourth studio album, and the follow-up to 2004's "Final Straw." The video for the album's third single, "Set the Fire to the Third Bar," is currently streaming at the band's website.
In addition to Lightbody, Snow Patrol--formerly a quartet--also features original members Nathan Connolly (guitar) and Jonny Quinn (drums), as well as new members Paul Wilson (bass) and Tom Simpson (keys/programming). Wilson replaced original bassist Mark McClelland, who exited the group last year.
