Las Vegas club joins Prince's dominion
Prince will reign down on Las Vegas indefinitely beginning Nov. 10, when his Purple Highness begins performing Friday- and Saturday-night shows each week at the new Rio Hotel & Casino nightclub 3121, which takes its name from the artist's latest album.
Tickets for the performances will cost $125, with a special dinner/show package including a meal at the new 3121 Jazz Cuisine restuarant available for $312.10, according to a press release. Tickets are currently on sale through Ticketmaster outlets and the Rio box office. (Ticketmaster is LiveDaily's parent company.)
On Wednesday nights, the club will be used to showcase "friends of Prince." The website 3121.com gives a sneak peek as to who those acts may be, including Patti LaBelle, Chaka Kahn, Cee-Lo, The Roots, Maceo Parker, Floetry and Sheila E, to name a few.
Prince is the latest in a growing contingent of artists--including Celine Dion, Elton John and Barry Manilow--who have settled in Vegas to play regular gigs.
The Purple One has been off the road this year, but unveiled new music Oct. 31 on the "Happy Feet" soundtrack, to which he contributed a cut titled "Song of the Heart."
Prince released the "3121" album earlier this year, scoring a career-first No. 1 debut.
