Slayer visits toops, looks toward US dates

The dates haven't been announced yet, but Slayer is in the midst of confirming a heap of shows for a North American headlining tour that will kick off after the holidays.

In the meantime, the thrash-metal vets will continue their "Unholy Alliance" European trek, and take a brief detour Nov. 8 to visit the 52nd Services Squadron on the Spangdahlem US Air Force Base in Germany. It will be the band's first-ever visit to a military base, according to a press release.

The members are expected to spend a couple of hours meeting with soldiers and signing autographs.

Slayer's latest album, "Christ Illusion," deals with the subject of war and religious fanaticism while scrutinizing America's role in Iraq and Afghanistan. Released in August, it's the band's first studio album since 2001's "God Hates Us All" and the first to feature the band's original lineup since 1990's "Seasons in the Abyss."

Cities Slayer intends to visit during it's 2007 North American tour include Tucson, AZ; Las Vegas and Reno, NV; Los Angeles and Sacramento, CA; Salt Lake City; Fargo, ND; Sioux Falls, SD; Kansas City, MO; Atlantic City, NJ; Providence, RI; New York and Rochester, NY; Ottawa, London and Hamilton, Ontario; Youngstown and Columbus, OH; Indianapolis; Myrtle Beach, SC; Orlando and Ft. Lauderdale, FL; and Washington, DC.
