Peaches beats around 'Bush' on year-end trek
Fresh from a European outing that left ripples of attention everywhere she passed, indie electronica rapper/singer Peaches has mapped out a late-year tour back on her North American home turf.
The oft-vulgar artist, who continues to back her controversial "Impeach My Bush" album, will kick off her club trek Nov. 24 in New York. The 19-city tour will take her through the southern states and into Mexico for extended stretches before finishing in San Francisco.
Pop-punk keyboardist Jay Poggi (aka Quintron) will open for Peaches during the outing. Quintron's most recent disc, "Swamp Tech," a dual CD/DVD multimedia collaboration with Miss Pussycat, was released in 2005.
Peaches, whose real name is Merrill Nisker, garnered controversy with the July release of her politically fueled "Impeach My Bush" album. The Canadian-born Nisker created new legions of both detractors and supporters with the blunt language and provocative sentiments of the set, which includes guest appearances from Joan Jett and Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age, among others.
The album follows up on her 2000 debut, "The Teaches of Peaches," and its 2002 successor, "Fatherf---er."
Peaches toured the US extensively this summer with Nine Inch Nails and Bauhaus.
