Briefly: Bruce Springsteen, Tupac Shakur, Staind, John Lennon
The hardcover book "Greetings from E Street: The Story of Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band," by Robert Santelli, landed in stores this week.
According to a press release, the book--described as a "fully illustrated informal biography" that "combines rare photographs with 30 removable facsimiles of E Street memorabilia, including Bruce Springsteen's first business card and hand-written set list"--was written with the cooperation of Springsteen and his band.
Santelli, the artistic director of Seattle's Experience Music Project, has written extensively about Springsteen since the early '70s.
The latest posthumous album from 2Pac , dubbed "Pac's Life," is due in stores Nov. 29. According to Interscope Records, only one verse on the album appears on an earlier album; all of the other recordings on the set are previously unissued.
Tupac Shakur was shot and killed in Las Vegas more than 10 years ago, and the new album marks the eighth 2Pac release since his death.
Among the artists who contributed to the new album are Ludacris, Snoop Dogg, Keyshia Cole, T.I., Ashanti, Young Buck, Lil Scrappy, Carl Thomas, Outlawz, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Big Syke and Papoose. Production credits include LT Hutton, Sha Money XL, Swizz Beatz and others.
Staind frontman Aaron Lewis will perform a show at Longmeadow High School in his hometown of Longmeadow, MA, to raise money for the school and its arts and music program.
The show is set for Nov. 4, and tickets--priced from $60 for advance tickets to $100 for VIP tickets that include a meet-and-greet with Lewis--are on sale at the school.
Yoko Ono reportedly has filed a $10 million lawsuit against EMI and subsidiary Capitol Records, claiming that she is owed royalties on the sales of recordings by John Lennon , her late husband.
