Briefly: Dashboard Confessional, Barbra Streisand, James Blunt, 3 Doors Down
Dashboard Confessional has canceled its planned Oct. 20 performance in Las Vegas, citing technical problems.
"We are very sorry for this and will do our best to come back through the area as soon as possible," reads a statement on the band's website.
Barbra Streisand 's current tour has set new single-performance gross records at four of the five venues she has played to date--Washington, DC's Verizon Center, Montreal's Bell Centre, Columbus, OH's Schottenstein Center and Philadelphia's Wachovia Center--according to the tour's promoter, Concert Productions International.
Her Oct. 9 appearance at New York's Madison Square Garden was the third-highest-grossing concert at that venue, ranking behind only her own September 2000 performances at the arena.
Pop singer James Blunt will perform a Nov. 16 benefit show at the House of Blues in West Hollywood, CA. Proceeds will benefit the international medical humanitarian organization Doctors Without Borders.
Blunt served in the British army in Kosovo, where he "personally witnessed the organization's life-saving work," according to a press release.
Rockers 3 Doors Down have set their third annual "3 Doors Down and Friends" benefit show for Dec. 2 in Mobile, AL. They'll be joined on the bill by b>Staind and Hinder, and proceeds will go to the band's Better Life Foundation, which will earmark the money for aid to Hurricane Katrina victims.
