Christina Aguilera confirms extensive tour
The North American leg of Christina Aguilera 's "Back to Basics" tour is set to visit arenas in 41 cities next year, with fellow pop acts The Pussycat Dolls and Danity Kane in the opening slots.
The outing, the full itinerary for which was unveiled Thursday (10/12), kicks off Feb. 20 in Houston, and is set to run through early May. Tickets for several shows will go on sale Saturday (10/14), according to promoter AEG Live; details are in the itinerary below.
VIP packages for the tour will be sold via iloveallaccess.com. Among the available perks are "premium seat locations within the first 10 rows and exclusive 'inside' the stage access as well as exclusive pre-show parties, backstage tours, exclusive gifts and much more," according to a press release.
The tour's production team includes choreographer/director Jamie King (Madonna, Janet Jackson) and costume designer Roberto Cavalli.
Also planned is "a unique stage design that will allow Christina's fans unprecedented access to the stage with unbelievable sight lines," according to the tour announcement. "The tour will feature three distinct stage scenes, illuminated by more than 600 moving lights, and a state-of-the-art hydraulic system."
Aguilera is currently gearing up for a month-long European trek, which kicks off Nov. 17 in Sheffield, UK. Her full European itinerary is available at her website.
The singer is backing her third solo album, "Back to Basics," which hit stores in August and entered The Billboard 200 chart at No. 1. Her label is hyping the set as a "modern take on vintage jazz, soul and blues from the 1920s, '30s and '40s."
The disc was produced by Linda Perry, who also turned the knobs on Aguilera's 2002 release, "Stripped."
