Barbra Streisand finalizes tour schedule

With the launch of Barbra Streisand 's comeback tour quickly approaching, organizers have made some final adjustments to the itinerary, to include adding a few new dates and scrapping a previously announced Detroit-area stop.

Strong demand for tickets in Toronto and Chicago has resulted in a second night for both cities, and the tour now is also scheduled to make a mid-November stop in Phoenix. Details are included below.

Meanwhile, Detroit-area fans will have to do some traveling if they hope to catch Babs live, as the tour's promoter has pulled the plug on her Oct. 18 show at The Palace of Auburn Hills, citing "lagging response" on the part of potential ticket-buyers in that market. Ticketmaster will automatically refund credit-card transactions, and those who purchased tickets with cash can obtain a refund at the point of purchase, according to a press release. (Ticketmaster is LiveDaily's parent company.)

"We apologize to the dedicated Barbra Streisand fans in Detroit who had purchased tickets, but it was impossible not to accommodate the extraordinary demand in Toronto," promoter Michael Cohl of Concert Productions International said in a statement.

Fans who purchased tickets for the Detroit show via Ticketmaster.com should receive via email a link through which they can access a block of tickets set aside for alternate shows in Toronto and Columbus, OH, according to CPI. Those who purchase tickets to one of the alternate shows will also get some help making the journey.

"Detroit fans who wish to purchase tickets for either of the alternative performances will receive an $85 credit to cover their transportation to Columbus or Toronto," Cohl said. "We are truly sorry for any inconvenience."

As previously reported, Streisand's tour--which will feature vocal act Il Divo in the opening slot--gets underway Oct. 4 in Philadelphia and wraps up Nov. 20 in Los Angeles. The singer--who hasn't mounted a national tour since 1994, and in 2000 held what she said would be her last public performance--said in June that she was returning to stage in order to raise funds for various charitable organizations.
