Jimmy Buffett offers up more shows, new album
Jimmy Buffett is set to continue his current trend of sporadic touring, with a handful of new dates now set to take place in October--the same month that will see the release of his new album.
Recent additions to Buffett's schedule include October stops in Santa Barbara and Chula Vista, CA, as well as two Las Vegas shows. Tickets for the Chula Vista and Las Vegas shows are on sale now; on-sales begin Monday (9/18) for the Santa Barbara gig.
Word of the new dates comes as the release date nears for Buffett's first new studio album since 2004's "License to Chill." The new set, dubbed "Take the Weather With You," is scheduled to hit stores Oct. 10. In an interview earlier this year, Buffett revealed that Mark Knopfler appears on the new album, as well as ukulele whiz Jake Shimabukuro and the band Gomez.
Every concert on Buffett's current tour is airing live on Margaritaville, Buffett's signature Sirius Satellite Radio channel. Each of the commercial-free concerts includes a 30-minute pre-show broadcast from backstage, featuring music and interviews with Buffett or members of his band, according to a press release issued earlier this year.
In April, five new recordings by Buffett--including a cover of the late Warren Zevon's "Werewolves of London"--turned up on the soundtrack to "Hoot," a family film that Buffett co-produced.
