Bonnie Raitt plots more North American shows

Bonnie Raitt , who has spent most of the summer working the US amphitheater circuit, has added a couple new US shows to her fall itinerary, and will pay her Canadian fans a visit, as well.

Currently working her way through a stretch of California shows, Raitt will reach the end of her previously announced, in-progress itinerary in early October. After taking a short break, she'll get back on the road mid-month for a pair of shows in the Northeast, and will then tackle a late-October string of Canadian dates.

Bluesman Keb' Mo', who has been opening for Raitt all summer, will finish his stint with her when the tour's current leg comes to a close Oct. 7 in Texas. Raitt has tapped Richard Julian to open her subsequent pair of new US concerts, and Maia Sharp for the Canadian dates. Details are included in the itinerary shown below.

Raitt continues working the road behind last year's "Souls Alike," her 18th album overall, and her first self-produced collection. Her touring band includes bassist Hutch Hutchinson, who has been with Raitt for over 20 years; drummer Ricky Fataar (Beach Boys, The Rutles), who's been playing with her on and off since 1982; guitarist/keyboardist George Marinelli (Bruce Hornsby and the Range), who's been playing with her on and off since 1993; and keyboardist Jon Cleary (Eric Clapton, Taj Mahal), whose New Orleans-based band The Absolute Monster Gentlemen has previously supported Raitt on tour.

Keb' Mo' served up his latest set, "Suitcase," in June. He co-produced the disc with longtime collaborator John Porter (B.B. King, Los Lonely Boys), according to a press release.

Delaware-based folk-singer Richard Julian is supporting his 2005 album, "Slow New York."

"Richard just knocks me out," Raitt said in a press release. "Some of the coolest, smartest and most original music I've heard in years."

Sharp, who makes a guest appearance on "Souls Alike," issued her most recent full-length disc, "Fine Upstanding Citizen," last year, and followed that with this month's acoustic EP "Eve & The Red Delicious." She is currently working on an LP due out next year, according to her website.

"Maia is making some of the most innovative and soulful music around with songs that are head and shoulders above the rest," Raitt said. "She has become one of my favorite artists."
