Death Cab for Cutie keeps the meter running
Indie-rock quartet Death Cab for Cutie will make one more pass through the US this fall as the group winds down its support for its most recent album, last year's "Plans."
The six-week run kicks off Oct. 26 in the Philadelphia area, and stops are confirmed in about 30 cities by the time the trek wraps up Dec. 9 in the Seattle-based band's hometown. The group has tapped three different acts to rotate through the opening slot during the upcoming run: Ted Leo + Pharmacists will appear on the bill from Oct. 26 through Nov. 20; OK Go from Nov. 26 through Nov. 30; and Jenny Lewis & The Watson Twins from Dec. 2 through Dec. 9.
Tickets for all shows are scheduled to hit the box office this month; specific on-sale dates are shown in the itinerary below. The band's website is holding an online pre-sale for tickets to each tour stop. More information is available at the site.
Released in August of 2005, "Plans" earned DCFC a Grammy nomination for Best Alternative Album. The disc, which includes the cuts "Soul Meets Body' and "Crooked Teeth," is gold certified for US shipment of 500,000 copies, according to the Recording Industry Association of America.
In April, DCFC issued "Directions," a DVD that houses 11 short films inspired by songs from "Plans."
