Panic! At the Disco steps up to arenas
The tour announcement comes on the heels of Panic! At the Disco's five 2006 MTV Video Music Awards nominations, all of which are for the group's debut video, "I Write Sins Not Tragedies." The group will be among the performers at this year's VMA ceremonies, which are set for Aug. 31 in New York City, and will air live.
Panic! At the Disco released its debut LP, "A Fever You Can't Sweat Out," last September on Decaydence Records, run by Pete Wentz of fellow emo band Fall Out Boy. The album recently was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America for shipping more than one million copies. Almost a year after its release, the album sits at No. 4 on The Billboard 200 chart.
It's been a quick rise for Panic! At the Disco, which earlier this year toured extensively in support of The Academy Is ... before stepping up to headline a summer club tour.
Support act Bloc Party continues to back its 2005 debut, "Silent Alarm," which was voted Album of the Year by the British publication New Musical Express. The disc ultimately reached No. 3 on the UK album charts.
Jack's Mannequin is the side project of Andrew McMahon, singer/songwriter/keyboardist of Something Corporate.
