System Of A Down To Join Limp Bizkit Tour

The end of the Family Values Tour won't mean the end of Limp Bizkit 's touring in 1999. Beginning on Nov. 4, the bandwill open its own "Billionaire Pirates Tour" with Method Man , Redman and -- in a surprising twist -- System of a Down.

System of a Down was originally scheduled to perform on the final leg of the Family Values Tour, but the band was pulled off the bill because of a dispute between System's management and Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst. Limp Bizkit's management company, The Firm, organized the Family Values tour.

According to MTV News, System's management claimed that Durst pulled the band off of Family Values because Durst's attempts to sign another band represented by System's management were rebuffed. Durst holds a senior vice president position with Interscope Records.

In an announcement published Thursday on Limp Bizkit's official website, Durst said of the dispute, ''We just want to bring good music to the kids. We love System and although we may not love their management, we don't think [the band] should be punished for the people working for them. We want to do what's best for our fans and wouldn't want business to interfere in why we started making music in the first place."

''Everything is changed,'' System of a Down announced Friday through its official website. ''Lots of drama has transpired recently regarding our tours. To make it short and sweet, all of it had nothing to do with the band. Things are now reset in order and justice has prevailed.... Advice to people in bands, talk to each other, not through your people.''

Because they're joining the Limp Bizkit tour, System has cancelled three November shows that were scheduled to take place in the Los Angeles area: a Nov. 17 show at The Whisky, a Nov. 19 performance at the Troubadour and a Nov. 20 show at the Roxy. The band plans to reschedule the shows for December.

Following the break with the Family Values Tour, System of a Down's management announced that the band would tour with Filter in November. According to MTV News, Filter is looking for another band to replace System.

System of a Down would have replaced Staind on the Family Values Tour. Instead, Staind will remain with the tour through its end.
