Social Distortion pulls together fall tour
Social Distortion sets out next month on a fall tour that will also feature fellow indie rockers the Supersuckers and Blackpool Lights .
The run gets underway Sept. 27 in Minneapolis, and is set to touch down in about 20 cities by early November. The schedule, which is shown below, includes multi-night stands in Chicago, New York and Philadelphia.
Social Distortion continues to support 2004's "Sex, Love and Rock'n'Roll," the Southern California punk icons' first album of new material since 1996's "White Light, White Heat, White Trash." This disc is also Social D's first recording without guitarist Dennis Danell, who died of a brain aneurysm in 2000. Taking over for Danell is Jonny Wickersham.
Also added to the lineup in the wake of "White Light, White Heat, White Trash" is drummer Charlie Quintana, who replaced Chuck Biscuits in 2000.
Bassist John Maurer, who was with Social Distortion for 20 years, recorded "Sex, Love and Rock'n'Roll" with the group, but subsequently bowed out. Bassist Brent Harding, who toured with Social D founder/frontman Mike Ness during the singer's 1999 solo outing, rounds out the lineup.
Supersuckers are backing their recently-released EP "Paid," which vocalist/bassist Eddie Spaghetti, in a recent message posted at his band's website, said "represents the start of a bigger project that will culminate in an album in the not so distant future."
Blackpool Lights, led by former Get Up Kids guitarist Jim Suptic, issued their debut set, "This Town's Disaster," in June.
