Briefly: Tim McGraw, Culture, moe., The Who

Tim McGraw , who has been touring extensively in recent months with his wife, fellow country star Faith Hill, will embark on a working vacation early next year when he heads up the Country Cruise Getaway.

McGraw will anchor the Jan. 28-31 cruise, headlining an exclusive concert aboard the 2,974-passenger Carnival Liberty, Carnival Cruise Lines' newest ship. The cruise will depart from Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and set sail to Nassau, Bahamas.

Other country artists will also appear; more details will be posted at the cruise's website.

Reggae group Culture 's lead singer and songwriter Joseph Hill reportedly died in Berlin Saturday (8/19) while his group was in the midst of a European tour. The cause of death wasn't immediately known. He was 57.

Hill, a native of Jamaica, fronted Culture for three decades. The group issued more than 30 albums.

Jam band moe. has been tapped to open a handful of shows on The Who 's North American tour: Sept. 25 in Chicago; Sept. 26 in Des Moines, IA; Sept. 29 in the Detroit area; and Sept. 30 in London, Ontario.

According to a press release, moe. will issue its first DVD, "moe. Live from The Fillmore," on Oct. 3. A new, as-yet untitled album will follow on Jan. 23, marking the group's first new studio album in four years.
