New Found Glory 'Coming Home' with fall dates

Pop-punk outfit New Found Glory will back up its upcoming studio release with a lengthy tour of small theaters and mid-size clubs beginning in early October and stretching into late November.

The Florida-based band has set a Sept. 19 release date for "Coming Home," its fifth studio album and first since signing with Geffen.

The group will play a previously scheduled slot at the Sept. 2 Art & Soul Festival in Oakland, CA, before kicking off its headlining tour Oct. 4 in Covington, KY. The six-week outing will cover 34 cities before the band heads off to England for a short tour starting in late November. The full UK itinerary can be found at the group's website.

"Coming Home," which was recorded earlier this year in California, follows up on "Catalyst," which surfaced in late 2004.

The band's members lived in a rented house in Malibu while composing the material for the new album, enlisting Paul Miner of Death by Stereo and Warren Fitzgerald of The Vandals to oversee demos of the new material.

"We asked each other, 'Who is New Found Glory, realistically?'" guitarist Chad Gilbert said of the "Coming Home" sessions in the band's online bio. "Well, New Found Glory is a band that people enjoy listening to not because we give off this harsh serious message. We're gonna sing about who we are and what effects us in life and those are our relationships."

"Whether that sounds selfish or whatever, punk rock is doing what you wanna do and not what you feel like you have to do. So it was almost easy to write because everything is real. It wasn't sitting around trying to put a twist on everything. It's an honest record that everyone kind of needs now."

"It's Not Your Fault," the first single from "Coming Home," was released July 26 and is currently available as a digital download from the iTunes store.
