Clap Your Hands Say Yeah lines up fall shows
Brooklyn indie rockers Clap Your Hands Say Yeah have mapped out a set of headlining dates this fall as the band continues to support its self-titled debut album from 2005.
The group will kick off its North American tour Sept. 2 at Montreal's Osheaga Festival, a two-day event featuring Sonic Youth, Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals, The Flaming Lips, and around 40 other acts. Three weeks later, the band will tackle a slot at Baltimore's Sept. 23 Virgin Festival.
Clap Your Hands' first true headlining date will follow Sept. 26 in Boston. Fellow indie bands Architecture in Helsinki and Takka Takka will provide support for all of the group's headlining shows.
The band was recently forced to postpone its scheduled summer tour of Australia and Japan when singer Alex Ounsworth's voice "started to give out on him," according a statement on the band's official website.
"In order to avoid any permanent damage to his vocal cords he's going to have to take some time off of touring," the band said, adding that ticket holders for the group's canceled shows in Sydney and Melbourne will be refunded.
Clap Your Hands Say Yeah's self-titled debut album, released last September, was also self-produced, self-released and self-promoted. The band even distributed the album itself, right down to licking the stamps on the CD mailers and selling copies of the disc at live shows.
The formerly unsigned band inked a record contract with the UK-based Wichita Recordings last December.
