Steely Dan Travels America In Support Of New Album

Steely Dan has removed the wraps from plans for a 38-date U.S. tour in support of "Two Against Nature," the band's first new studio album in 20 years. The two-month outing--featuring core band members Donald Fagen (keyboards and vocals) and Walter Becker (bass)--will kick off May 31 in Spokane, Wash.

Tickets are scheduled to go on sale for the tour's first three stops--Spokane, Portland, Ore., and George, Wash.--on Saturday (4/8), and tickets for the band's Concord, Calif., performance are scheduled to go on sale Sunday (4/9). Monday (4/10) on-sale dates have been set for the tour's Chula Vista, Irvine, and Mountain View, Calif., stops, as well as its Columbia, Md., and Manassas, Va., stops. Other on-sale dates weren't immediately available.

The majority of the concerts will take place at amphitheaters, but several indoor arenas will host the tour as well.

In other Steely Dan news, Image Entertainment is scheduled to release a concert video and DVD titled "2 Against Nature Plush TV Jazz-Rock Party in hi-fi Stereo" on June 5. The performance was taped at Sony Studios in New York City before an invitation-only audience of about 200 on Jan. 28 and 29 for a PBS special which aired earlier this year. The video and DVD will include exclusive interview footage.

Steely Dan taped a VH1 "Storytellers" concert at the same New York studio on Feb. 1. The show is scheduled to air on May 1.
