Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Who top Virgin Festival roster
The first-ever US edition of the Virgin Festival takes place in Baltimore this fall, and will feature headliners The Red Hot Chili Peppers and The Who , as well as a lengthy list of other acts.
Other acts confirmed for the gig, which is set for Sept. 23 at Baltimore's Pimlico Race Course, include: The Killers, Gnarls Barkley, The Flaming Lips, The Raconteurs, Scissor Sisters, Keane, Thievery Corporation, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, New Pornographers, Wolfmother, Drive-By Truckers, Kasabian, Brazilian Girls, Tiesto, John Digweed, Carl Cox, 2Many DJs, RJD2 and James Holden.
Sponsored by Virgin Mobile, the event will feature two performance stages, as well as a dance tent, "high-quality concessions, a diverse array of vendors and non-profit organizations, interactive art installations and performance art, and many unexpected happenings," according to a press release.
Tickets go on sale Saturday (7/22), and prices are set at $97.50 plus service fees. The general-admission venue will hold 60,000 concertgoers, according to organizers. Additional details are posted at the festival's website.
In addition to its Sept. 20 festival in Baltimore, Virgin is also throwing its annual target="_blank">UK V Fest Aug. 19-20, and an inaugural Canadian version is scheduled for Sept. 8-9.
Tickets for the two-day UK V Fest sold out in three hours, according to organizers.
