Briefly: Jessica Simpson, Snoop Dogg, Bonnie Raitt, Helmet
"This is the first time music fans have been offered the innovative opportunity to put their own name into a customized pop song so that the lyrics are literally calling out their name," reads a press release issued by Epic Records, Simpson's label.
According to Epic, fans will be able to comb through a list of 500 different names that can be inserted into the lyrics of the song.
During its first week of availability, the customized versions of the song will be available exclusively at Yahoo! Music, after which it will be sold on other digital-download sites.
An Oct. 19 release date is planned for Snoop Dogg 's eighth solo album, "Blue Carpet Treatment."
Among the producers who worked on the set are The Neptunes, Stevie Wonder (who also sings on a new version of his classic "Have a Talk with God") and Timbaland.
CD and DVD editions of the "Bonnie Raitt and Friends" episode of the VH1 Classic series "Decades Rock Live!" will be issued on Aug. 15. Joining Raitt for the program, which first aired last year, were Norah Jones, Ben Harper, Alison Krauss and Keb' Mo'.
VH1's "Decades Rock Live!" series "pairs celebrated artists of rock and roll with some of today’s hottest recording acts who have been influenced and inspired by these legends," according to a press release.
Though Helmet 's new set, "Monochrome," isn't due in stores until Tuesday (7/18), fans who register at warpedtour.com can listen to a full stream of the album.
