Muse takes 'Revelations' to North America
UK rockers Muse will cross the Atlantic in July to stage a three-week tour in support of their recently released fourth studio album, "Black Holes and Revelations."
The pop-prog trio will kick off the 14-city tour July 18 in San Francisco. The tour will land in selected major cities across the US, with two Canadian forays in the mix, July 30 in Toronto, and July 31 in Montreal.
"Black Holes and Revelations," which hit stores July 11, is the band's followup to its 2003 "Absolution" album, which launched the group into a significant breakthrough in this country. The band is considered a major act (and often compared to the likes of Radiohead) in its homeland, where "Black Holes" has already hit No. 1 on the UK's album charts.
"We went from playing these massive arenas in Europe to playing to 200 people in some pokey hole [in the US] again," guitarist/vocalist Matthew Bellamy said in a press release. "That's the price of getting too comfortable on large stages. But it was good to be treated like a new band over there and get that feeling of being discovered again."
The album can be previewed in its entirety by following the links on Muse's MySpace site.
The band's new album is shipping in the US as a dual CD/DVD, with an extra disc containing highlights from Muse's 18-month long "Absolution" tour.
