Wu-Tang Clan regroups for summer tour
Wu-Tang Clan , which reunited earlier this year for an East Coast tour, will spend next month hitting venues throughout the US.
The hip-hop collective launches things Aug. 3 in Phoenix, and will canvas the West before working its way east and wrapping up Aug. 25 in Ft. Lauderdale. The New York-based group's itinerary, which is shown below, includes a two-night, hometown stand.
Prior to this year's reunion concerts, Wu-Tang Clan performances had been rare in recent years--and tours even less frequent--because the group's principals all have successful solo careers. The group's 2006 shows have been the first since November of 2004, the night before Wu-Tang rapper Ol' Dirty Bastard--who didn't show up for that gig--collapsed and died of an accidental drug overdose.
Though Wu-Tang hasn't released a new studio set since 2001's "Iron Flag," the group did turn up on member Ghostface's fifth solo collection, "Fishscale," which surfaced earlier this year. Fellow Wu-Tang Clan member Raekwon guests on four songs, and the entire group appears on "Wu United."
The latest solo effort from Wu-Tang's Method Man, meanwhile, is due in stores July 25. Titled "4:21 ... The Day After," the disc features production by Dr. Dre, Scott Storch and Wu-Tang Clan's cornerstone member, RZA. "Say," a cut from "4:21" that features Lauryn Hill, is currently streaming at Def Jam's website.
