More dates bubble up for Hootie & The Blowfish

June 22, 2006 10:35 AM
With the early July launch of their summer tour quickly approaching, soft-rock hitmakers Hootie & The Blowfish continue plugging new dates into their itinerary.

Since last check, the group has filled about 20 blanks in its schedule, which is now stacked from July 3 through mid-September. The group has also started booking fall tour dates, of which there are a handful confirmed for both October and November. Details are included below.

The South Carolina-based foursome--frontman Darius Rucker, guitarist Mark Bryan, bassist Dean Felber an drummer Jim "Soni" Sonefeld--is working the road behind its fifth studio album, "Looking for Lucky," which surfaced last August and features the cut "Get Out of My Mind." The band issued the set on its own independent label, Sneaky Long Records, an imprint of Vanguard Records.

The group's entrepreneurial endeavors also include selling via their website downloadable versions of a number concerts recorded during the "Lucky" tour. More information is available at the group's site.

"Looking for Lucky" was recorded in Nashville with producer Don Gehman, who also produced the band's 1994 debut, "Cracked Rear View." That album--which features the hit singles "Hold My Hand," "Let Her Cry" and "Only Wanna Be with You"--remains the group's most successful release to date; the set is multi-platinum certified for shipping 16 million copies in the US.
