Buckcherry ripe for more touring
Rockers Buckcherry continue to roll out dates for their in-progress tour behind "Fifteen," their first new album in five years.
The group has a mix of headlining shows and radio-station festivals lined up through mid-August. Details are included below.
After originally planning to headline Mississippi radio station ROCK 93.9's "4th Year Birthday Bash" on Wednesday (6/21) night, Buckcherry will instead appear as the musical guest on "Jimmy Kimmel Live," an opportunity that came up after the group booked the Mississippi gig. As a result, ROCK 93.9 has pushed the event back until Aug. 8, according to the station's website.
For those in the Hollywood area, details about attending the free, outdoor "Kimmel" performance are posted at Buckcherry's website.
Released in April, "Fifteen" is Buckcherry's first full-length release since 2001's "Time Bomb." The group went on an indefinite hiatus after issuing that disc due to the temporary departure of lead singer and founding member Josh Todd. He and guitarist Keith Nelson eventually reunited at a benefit for late drummer Randy Castillo, and were then recruited by Slash, Duff McKagan and Matt Sorum to play in what eventually evolved into Velvet Revolver. "By the end, I was spent dealing with all the egos, I needed some time off," Nelson said in a press release.
The guitarist received a co-writing credit on the Velvet Revolver Track "Dirty Little Thing," and continued to work with Todd after Slash and company moved on without them.
"It made us realize how fun it was to be in a band again," Todd added. "We focused on what mattered, the music."
Nelson produced "Fifteen," which features the debut of three new Buckcherry members: guitarist Steve D.; drummer Xavier Muriel; and bassist Jimmy Ashhurst.
The new album features the cut "Crazy Bitch," the music video for which is streaming at Buckcherry's website.
