Snow Patrol [ tickets ] has postponed several planned shows because frontman Gary Lightbody is suffering from "a severe throat condition," according to a press release.

Among the affected shows are planned gigs in Atlanta, Boston, New York City, Philadelphia, Montreal and Washington, DC. Most dates have been rescheduled for later this month; details are below.

"I had another check up yesterday and my little friends are still hanging on for dear life and my throat looks raw apparently," Lightbody said in a press release "To be honest I still find it hard to look at it long enough to see what the doc is getting at. I believe her though.

"She said for me to take a week from yesterday to recover. So the first gig I would be ready for would be Friday the 9th in Pontiac, Michigan. This would mean postponing a few more dates of course."

The postponements led to venue changes for Snow Patrol's Atlanta and Boston shows. Though the Montreal show hasn't been rescheduled, the band plans to visit the city in October, according to a press release.
