Pearl Jam goes public with music video
Pearl Jam unveiled its first new music video in eight years over the weekend, and the band is encouraging fans to download and share the clip.
The video for "Life Wasted," the second single from the band's recently released, self-titled album, is available for fans to download for free through Wednesday (5/24) at Pearl Jam's official website, and via www.video.google.com.
The clip was released through a Creative Commons Attribution/Non-Commercial/No Derivatives license, which allows fans to download and share the video for non-commercial purposes.
"Pearl Jam's decision to offer its new video to the public under a Creative Commons license proves that the band's reputation for fan-friendliness is well deserved," Lawrence Lessig, CEO of Creative Commons, said in a press release. "It's an inspiration to those of us who are passionate about building a pool of creative work that can be freely and legally shared by the world."
The "Life Wasted" clip was directed by mixed-media visual artist Fernando Apodaca, and was his first foray into music videos.
Pearl Jam is currently in the midst of a North American tour to support the new album, which debuted at No. 2 on The Billboard 200 chart earlier this month.
