Subways bounce back with summer tour
The Subways , who recently scrapped a North American tour after frontman Billy Lunn developed a throat problem, will now tour the continent this summer with Taking Back Sunday.
The group has signed on to Taking Back Sunday's previously announced, month-long roadtrip, which will also feature Head Automatica, and Angels and Airwaves, the latter of which is Blink-182 singer/guitarist Tom Delonge's latest project. The groups will hit the road together in late June.
Since word of the tour first surfaced, organizers have added stops in Buffalo, NY; Columbus, OH; and Long Beach, CA; and have nailed down a venue for the Tampa-area stop. Details are included below.
Originally due to mount a 21-city North American tour this month, The Subways had to pull the plug on those plans after Lunn was diagnosed with nodules on his vocal chords. Doctors advised the singer to take at least a six-week rest from touring, according to the group.
"We're so excited to tour the states again this summer," bassist/vocalist Charlotte Cooper said in a statement that the group issued Monday (5/15). "Billy's feeling a lot better vocally and we're really ready to get back on the road. We're all really looking forward to it, so thank you for all your support and we'll see you all soon."
Lunn, his younger brother, Josh Morgan (drums) and Cooper formed The Subways in 2002. "Young for Eternity," the group's debut set, was released in England last year, and hit US stores in February of this year. The disc features the single "Rock & Roll Queen," as well as follow-up cut "Oh Yeah," which is due to hit radio stations this month. The group, which some time ago released an "Oh Yeah" music video for UK audiences, plans to issue a new version soon, according to Warner Bros. Records.
