Queensryche expands 'Mindcrime II' tour plans
Queensryche has unveiled another month of tour dates that extend the veteran prog-rock band's upcoming tour behind its recently released album, "Operation Mindcrime II."
New to the band's itinerary--which already ran from late August through late September--is a full contingent of November tour dates that will find the band making more stops throughout the US and Canada. Details are included below.
Released in early April, "Operation Mindcrime II" is the follow-up to Queensryche's 1988 concept album. Frontman and chief songwriter Geoff Tate, in a press release, said the current political and social climate inspired him to revisit the "Operation Mindcrime" storyline.
"I left the original open-ended with the intent to come back with a sequel to finish the story up," he said. "Considering where we are today and how little things have changed, it was too ironic not to continue the story."
Though the album has only been in stores for a short time, fans may recognize some of the "Mindcrime II" cuts, which the group began road testing as far back as the winter of 2004.
"Operation Mindcrime II" is the Queensryche's first collection of all-new material since 2003's "Tribe," and its third since the 1997 departure of founding guitarist Chris Degarmo, who briefly returned to work on "Tribe," but didn't sign on for the album's supporting tour.
