Jason Aldean rides wave of success through summer tour

Country singer Jason Aldean [ tickets ] has mapped out an impressive lineup of dates for summer as he continues to support his self-titled debut album.

The Georgia-born singer, now based in Nashville, will next hit a May 10 date in Glen Allen, VA, as he continues his mammoth trek.

Aldean, who began the year touring with Rascall Flatts and Blake Shelton on the "Me and My Gang" tour, and recently co-headlined a short tour with Miranda Lambert, has undergone a meteoric rise from obscurity following the release of his debut album last June. The album debuted at No. 6 on the Billboard Country chart, and has spawned two top ten singles, including the current, "Why," which landed in the top spot of Country Music Television's "Top 20 Countdown" in April.

The singer's current success contrasts sharply with the lows Aldean experienced after being dropped by his first two labels without producing a recording.

"I thought it was so easy when I got [to Nashville]," Aldean said in his online bio. "I was here a month, and I got offered a deal. I thought, 'This is great. I should have moved up here five years ago.' And then I got a reality check. Guess what: it's not that easy.

"Now I'm at the most exciting time of my life. Recording my first album has been such a thrill. I have waited a long time to make a record like this, and all I can say is this album is real, it's true and it's me."
