Things heat up for Red Hot Chili Peppers
It's been a busy week for The Red Hot Chili Peppers , with the group adding additional nights to its tour schedule, rescheduling its fan-club ticket pre-sale, and tackling news that its forthcoming album has been leaked to the Internet.
Expecting strong demand for tickets to its summer tour, the group has added a second show to its October stops in New York City and Philadelphia, and will now play back-to-back concerts in both cities. Details are included in the itinerary shown below.
As previously reported, tickets for all dates will go on sale to the general public on May 13 except for the tour's Boise, ID, stop, tickets for which go on sale May 12, according to the group's publicist.
A ticket pre-sale for premium-level members of the Peppers' official fan club--which originally was scheduled to take place May 7-8--has been bumped up a day, and will now take place Saturday and Sunday (May 6-7), according to the band's website.
A previously announced, May 9 pre-sale for fans who pre-order "Stadium Arcadium" via Apple's iTunes Music Store remains intact. Those who pre-order the set will receive an email with a code that they can use at Ticketmaster.com. (Ticketmaster is LiveDaily's parent company.) The codes won't be emailed until shortly before the ticket presale begins, according to organizers.
The May 9 pre-sale takes place the same day "Stadium Arcadium" hits retail stores, but the album's 28 tracks apparently already have been leaked to the Internet, according to a letter to fans that Chili Peppers bassist Flea posted at the group's website earlier this week. In his note, he stressed that the sound quality of the leaked version is sub par, and that he and his bandmates--frontman Anthony Keidis, guitarist John Fusciante and drummer Chad Smith--are extremely upset over the prospect of fans hearing the new music in its low-quality form.
"Yes, it is stealing from us, and that is lame," he wrote, in part. "Everyone has to live with their own conscience on that one. Let it be your guide. But to take a version that has been defiled sound-wise, a version in which some idiot has taken our year-and-a-half of soul-baring work and pissed all over it, that will break our hearts."
"Stadium Arcadium," the Chili Peppers' follow-up to 2002's "By the Way," was produced by longtime RHCP mentor Rick Rubin.
As previously reported, the Chili Peppers' concert plans include an early August performance at this summer's Lollapalooza festival in Chicago, and an Oct. 28 headlining set at this year's annual Voodoo Music Festival.
