Featured Photos: The Subways at Bottom of the Hill, San Francisco CA - July 30, 2008

A true testament of an up-and-coming band's popularity is when it packs a venue on a weeknight, with a set that starts at 11 p.m. no less. That's just what The Subways did on Wednesday (7/30) at Bottom of the Hill in San Francisco. Currently touring in support of their latest album, "All Or Nothing," Billy Lunn, Charlotte Cooper and Josh Morgan attack the stage with a toolkit of super-high-energy, well written original songs and tight musicianship. Close your eyes and you could swear you're hearing a five piece band. But with all the kinetic energy on offer you'll want to keep them open. Visually, nothing is more refreshing than seeing a cute girl wield a bass. With a Lakland almost as big as her petite frame, Cooper produces tight chords yet still manages to jump and dance around like there's no tomorrow. Scheduled to play three more shows in California, The Subways will be appearing at the Troubadour in West Hollywood (8/2), Chain Reaction in Anaheim (8/3), and Epicentre in San Diego (8/3). From there it's off to Japan, Europe and then back home to the UK by mid October. Yours truly was on the scene to get these photos of the aforementioned action. Set List: 1. Kalifornia 2. Young For Eternity 3. Oh Yeah 4. Alright 5. Mary 6. Shake Shake 7. I Won't Let You Down 8. I Wanna Hear What You Have To Say 9. Turnaround 10. With You encore 11. Girls & Boys 12.
