Suge Knight arrested on felony assault, drug charges
Marion "Suge" Knight was released on $19,000 bail from a Las Vegas jail late Wednesday (8/27) following an early morning arrest for allegedly beating his girlfriend and threatening her with a knife.
Knight, who reportedly was found with ecstasy and Hydrocodone, reportedly was charged with assault with a deadly weapon, battery/domestic-violence, possession of a controlled substance and possession of dangerous drugs without a prescription.
The 43-year old rap mogul allegedly punched his girlfriend of three years in the head during an argument while driving with her near the Las Vegas strip. The girlfriend, who was not identified, told police officers that, in an attempt to escape, she grabbed the steering wheel and turned the car to hit a curb, according to published reports. She then fled on foot with Knight following.
When police officers responded to a domestic violence call, they found the Death Row Records founder standing over the woman holding a knife, the Associated Press reported.
A police spokesperson told reporters at least one officer on the scene drew a Taser stun gun as they approached Knight, but did not know if any of the officers drew their handguns.
Knight reportedly dropped the folding knife and was arrested without incident.
The woman, who was not stabbed, was taken to a nearby hospital and treated for injuries that were not life-threatening.
Knight is scheduled to appear in Las Vegas Justice Court on Sept. 26.
