Flaming Lips film screening now, DVD on the way

The Flaming Lips will release their film debut, "Christmas on Mars: A Fantastical Film Freak-out Featuring the Flaming Lips," on DVD Nov. 11, according to a press release.

The film will be available as a single DVD and a deluxe DVD/CD package that includes the movie and the 12-track original film score.

Video extras include interviews with band members Wayne Coyne, Steven Drozd, Michael Ivins and Kliph Scurlock, as well as the bonus featurette "From Drawings to a Movie: Inside Wayne's Endless Yellow Notepad." The featurette allows viewers a look at the film's conceptual genesis from an idea into sketches and storyboards, and then onto film. The deluxe edition also will contain a set of movie postcards, a commemorative screen-printed movie ticket and popcorn box, and a limited-edition T-shirt designed by Coyne.

A digital-download version of the movie will be available for purchase at Apple's iTunes Music Store on the release date.

"Christmas on Mars" also is being screened at offbeat venues across the country such as rock clubs, stage theaters, museums and select movie theaters, including its continued New York City engagement at the KGB Complex's Kraine Theater. A list of dates and venues can be found at the bands MySpace page.
