Classic rock group Styx found its first big success in 1977 with the now triple-platinum "The Grand Illusion," a set that gave us hits like "Come Sail Away" and "Fooling Yourself (The Angry Young Man)." Two years later, the group had its first No. 1 song, the Grammy-nominated "Babe."
The group's hits continued to mount through the early '80s, with the 1981 concept album "Paradise Theatre" producing "Too Much Time On My Hands" and "Snowblind," and 1983's "Kilroy Was Here" delivering "Mr Roboto." The group parted ways following the 1984 "Kilroy Tour," but reunited 11 years later to release "Return to Paradise." In the ensuing years, longtime drummer John Panozzo died and singer/guitarist Dennis DeYoung exited the group. To date, official RIAA stats show Styx having earned six platinum or multi-platinum records, and selling more than 17.5 million records in the US.
Styx will play in Pompano Beach, FL, on Saturday (11/15), then take some time off the road until next year. LiveDaily's Tim Mosenfelder caught the band's fall 2008 gig in Concord, CA, and took photos of the performance.
