Stephen Colbert to host holiday music special

In November, Comedy Central will broadcast "A Colbert Christmas: The Greatest Gift of All," a one-hour music special featuring original songs performed by Stephen Colbert, Jon Stewart, Elvis Costello , Feist , John Legend , Toby Keith and Willie Nelson .

The show, scheduled to air Nov. 23, will feature eight original songs written for the show by Adam Schlesinger of Fountains of Wayne and Ivy, and David Javerbaum, executive producer of "The Daily Show."

The special also will be released on DVD with a portion of the proceeds going to the Feeding America charity, according to a press release.

During the broadcast, Colbert will perform a song titled "Cold Cold Christmas" and sing a duet with Nelson entitled "Little Dealer Boy."

Colbert will also perform several other duets, including "There Are Much Worse Things To Believe In," with Costello.

The entire ensemble will team up for a version of Nick Lowe's "(What's So Funny 'bout) Peace, Love and Understanding," which was popularized by Costello.

The Colbert holiday show isn't the first musical collaboration between Schlesinger and Javerbaum. The duo most recently collaborated on the Broadway musical "Cry Baby," which received four Tony nominations, including Best Musical and Best Score.
