Oasis singer attacked onstage
Oasis ' Sunday (9/7) concert in Toronto was interrupted when an unidentified man charged across the stage and shoved singer/guitarist Noel Gallagher from behind.
Video footage of the incident (included below)--which took place while the band was in the midst of performing its hit "Morning Glory"--shows the man run up behind Gallagher and knock him down, causing him to fall forward onto his monitor speakers. The assailant is then swarmed by the band's security staff.
"Despite his injuries, Noel returned to the stage a few minutes later to complete the band's set but was taken to hospital after the show to be examined for a suspected fractured rib and ligament damage," reads a news brief posted today at the group's website. "The assailant was detained in police custody and will be charged with assault."
The brief goes on to say that "no decision has been made regarding Tuesday's [9/9] concert in London, Ontario," and advises fans to keep checking the site for updates.
