Two People Die During Rothbury Fest

Two people died July 6 in unrelated incidents at the Rothbury Music Festival in Michigan, according to The Detroit Free Press. A 33-year-old New York woman and a 28-year-old man from Ohio suffered unidentified medical emergencies, hours apart. Both were taken to a nearby hospital, where they died.

There were no details regarding causes of death, however festival organizers told a local television channel the woman was accompanied by a service animal and had a previous medical condition.

Police officials said there was not anything unusual about the deaths and there is no reason to suspect foul play. Authorities will receive toxicology reports from the autopsies in four weeks.

Officials have not released the identity of either person.

The weekend-long festival featured performances by Dave Matthews Band, Widespread Panic, 311, Phil Lesh, Trey Anastasio, John Mayer, Michael Franti and Snoop Dogg, among others. Ex-Phish members Anastasio and Mike Gordon played a few songs together during each of their respective sets; Jon Fishman joined his ex-bandmates for a cover of The Beatles' "She Said, She Said."
