Sara Evans Weds Former College Football Star

Sara Evans married former University of Alabama quarterback Jay Barker June 14 in an outdoor ceremony at a farm near her Tennessee home, according to People magazine. The couple's seven children--from previous marriages--were the only attendants and they collectively gave their parents away.

The short ceremony featured Evans' close friend, Nashville songwriter Marcus Hummon, singing "God Bless the Broken Road," the Rascal Flatts' hit he co-wrote. The song reportedly has deep meaning for Evans and Barker, who were introduced by Christian minster Joe Beam after each had turned to him for support after their respective divorces last year. Before the minister introduced Evans and Barker, he made the couple promise they would let him officiate at their wedding. "I think God told Joe to get us together," Evans told People.

The country music star and the football player, who were engaged in March, chose a sophisticated black-and-white theme for the wedding, which featured a down-home twist with a menu featuring Southern fried chicken, country-style pole beans, biscuits and macaroni and cheese.
