Lil Wayne [ tickets ]'s new album, "Tha Carter III," is expected to debut at No. 1 on next week's Billboard 200 album chart, with sales estimated at just under 1 million units, Billboard.com reports.

The first-day numbers, 423,000 copies sold--based on Nielsen SoundScan's Building Chart--nearly match 2008's one-week sales record set earlier in the year by Mariah Carey [ tickets ]: 463,000 copies of "E=MC2" during its first week of sales. If "Tha Carter III" sells like its first-day sales predict, it will be the best selling album since Kanye West [ tickets ]'s "Graduation," which last year moved 957,000 in its first week.

On the singles charts, Lil Wayne began a fifth week atop the Hot 100 with his song "Lollipop" featuring Static Major. In total, Wayne takes up seven slots on the Hot 100--five songs from "Tha Carter III" and as a guest artist on tracks from Usher and Lloyd.
