Lil Wayne Headed Toward Dominating Chart Week
Lil Wayne 's new album, "Tha Carter III," is expected to debut at No. 1 on next week's Billboard 200 album chart, with sales estimated at just under 1 million units, Billboard.com reports.
The first-day numbers, 423,000 copies sold--based on Nielsen SoundScan's Building Chart--nearly match 2008's one-week sales record set earlier in the year by Mariah Carey : 463,000 copies of "E=MC2" during its first week of sales. If "Tha Carter III" sells like its first-day sales predict, it will be the best selling album since Kanye West 's "Graduation," which last year moved 957,000 in its first week.
On the singles charts, Lil Wayne began a fifth week atop the Hot 100 with his song "Lollipop" featuring Static Major. In total, Wayne takes up seven slots on the Hot 100--five songs from "Tha Carter III" and as a guest artist on tracks from Usher and Lloyd.
