Lit Drummer Facing Brain Cancer
Lit drummer Allen Shellenberger has been diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor. The band made an initial announcement on their website May 5, when the tumor was first discovered. Recent biopsy results identified Shellenberger's cancer as malignant glioma, the same type of cancer Senator Edward M. Kennedy is battling.
The 38-year-old drummer is being treated with radiation and chemotherapy at the Cedars-Sinai Maxine Dunitz Neurosurgical Institute, according to a press release. Shellenberger is said to be in good spirits and committed to fight for his life.
Earlier this month, when the tumor was first discovered, the band canceled a scheduled European tour with KISS.
