May 5, 2008 12:05 PM
Citing an acute case of laryngitis, Canadian pop star Avril Lavigne has canceled a number of concerts.

After performing 37 shows across the country, she canceled dates in San Diego on April 30; Phoenix on May 2; Anaheim, CA, on May 3; Universal City, CA, on May 4; Santa Barbara, CA, on May 6; San Jose, CA, on May 7; Spokane, WA, on May 9; and Everett, WA, on May 10. Ticket refunds are available at the point of purchase, according to organizers.

Lavigne apologized for the cancellations on her official website.

"I am at home right now taking it easy," she wrote. "I have been sick this whole tour, and now I have lost my voice. I have never canceled a show in my whole career and just had to for the first time ever. This sux!"

Lavigne is touring in support of her latest CD "The Best Damn Thing."
