Nine Inch Nails Attempt To Thwart Scalpers
Nine Inch Nails have unveiled plans for a restrictive ticket-selling procedure that the group hopes will keep out of the hands of scalpers tickets for some of the best seats in the house on the group's upcoming tour.
According to a press release, the industrial-rock outfit "has secured extremely limited allotments of the guaranteed best possible seats to every headlining show on the band's upcoming tour," and will distribute those tickets via pre-sales at NIN.com that will commence "roughly 72 hours prior" to public on-sales in each market, according to a press release.
In order to participate in the pre-sales, fans will be required to register at the site using their legal names, and every pre-sale ticket will be personalized with the purchaser's legal name printed on the ticket. Tickets will not be available until the night of the show, at which time they will be distributed via will-call windows at separate entrances to be used exclusively by pre-sale ticket holders, according to a press release. Purchasers will be required to provide a government-issued ID that matches the name printed on the ticket in order to gain entry.
In related news, NIN mastermind Trent Reznor has bestowed an honor upon a longtime fan known only as "Meathead," who, for years, has been posting Flash-animated videos about NIN at popular fan site The NIN Hotline. Reznor has posted at NIN's official website Meathead's latest video (shown below)--set to NIN's new single, "Discipline"--along with the following note:
"... it seems some tour pre-production stage ideas have leaked to the internet, so I guess we might as well share them here. Keep in mind it's rough and not finished yet. In real life it will be much tighter."
