Formed by Washington, DC, natives in the year 2000, The Walkmen[ tickets ] are the co-creation of players from two groups: Jonathan Fire*Eater (Paul Maroon, Walter Martin and Matt Barrick) and The Recoys (Peter Bauer and Hamilton Leithauser).
Not only are The Walkmen inspired by such groups as The Pogues[ tickets ], The Velvet Underground[ tickets ], Joy Division[ tickets ] and Pixies[ tickets ], they strive to achieve their sound by making a point of playing vintage instruments and recording in a converted industrial space, a studio dubbed Marcata Recording in Harlem.
